The Shipcraft series of books are a treasure trove of photos, diagrams and information for both model builders and naval history enthusiasts alike, and this volume is no exception. Anyone interested in the Yamato Class battleships will enjoy this book. Model builders should find the kit and accessory reviews to be helpful, along with the detailed diagrams and photos of remarkable models of Yamato and Musashi. Those who aren't into model building but still have an interest in these ships will find the information of the ship's design and service to be of great interest, along with the numerous photos of the ships themselves (many of them taken in battle). Overall, this is a fine reference, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in these unique and awe inspiring vessels. Period photos, a fairly complete basic history of the ships, a listing & pictures of most available models & accessories, color profiles, & more is what you get on 64 pages of stout glossy paper. Not being much of a ship modeler, I can still appreciate the work involved as well as the very nicely done finished products shown here. A lot of bang for not too many bucks.The 2 ships in this class were the largest most heavily armed warships ever made. The results were less than stellar. What a colossal waste of money & resources after the advent of carrier aircraft.
